Well wasn't that just PEACHY. As many of you might remember, on the way down to San Diego nearly a month ago, I was pulled over for speeding in Ventura. At the time, the cop said that I should expect a notice in the mail within 15 days saying how much to pay and what to do. 15 days came and went, and I started trying to find another way to deal with the ticket. Today, 12:45, I call the local CHP. They can't do anything, so I call the Ventura CHP. The person there says that the mailed notice is actually OPTIONAL on the part of the court, and that if I didn't recieve it, I have to be in Ventura County court by the date and time indicated. For the first time, I look at this letter... the date: today. The time: Noon. So I tell the CHPer on the phone this, and she says "they'll probably issue a warrant for you by the end of the day then." THIS IS NOT COOL. By now, it's 1:10, as I call the Ventura County Traffic Court to try and settle this. While I'm waiting for a person, I find out that they, too, think the mailer is Mandatory. NATURALLY, the phones are closed from 11:30 to 1:30 every day. After a good 35 minutes of repeated calling, I finally get through to a clerk(when he returned at 1:50) to find that they DID mail it to me... on Monday. As such, I get a time extension until 9/11(how appropriate). Such is the story of my life.
